Tanisha Chatto is a Navajo bead artist, raised in Chinle, Arizona and now residing in Ramah, New Mexico near the Zuni Pueblo. Tanisha belongs to a rich line of Navajo jewelry artisans. She is the daughter of jewelry maker, Marcella Teller-Beall. Tanisha grew up around her mom and aunts making jewelry, so the art form was natural to her. She started really dedicating herself to the art of beading in 2020. She makes all her bead work on a loom, and she uses only the highest quality glass beads called Miyuki Delila from Japan. Tanisha specializes in creating beautiful beaded earring designs.
Tanisha’s husband is a silversmith, but mostly focuses on being a full-time pastor. They have one son, Kee, who will also be following in his parents’ and grandparents footsteps in jewelry-making. In her spare time (which there isn’t much, she admits with a laugh), Tanisha loves gardening, especially chilies and squash.
