Shanna Tisi

Shanna Tisi was born in Tuba City, Arizona on the Navajo Nation. She began weaving at the age of 8. Her grandmother, Mary C. Tisi, and her mother, Freida Manymules, were her supportive teachers.

Shanna is a versatile weaver who produces beautiful weavings in several regional styles such as Storm Pattern, Chinle, Klagetoh, Yei, and Pictorial. Some of her design elements are inspired by her grandmother’s favorites such as “rabbit ears” and “cradleboard”.

The newest weaver in Shanna’s family is her daughter, Alyssa.  Alyssa began weaving when she was just 6 years old. She enjoys weaving colorful designs that are derived from her own creativity while also borrowing inspiration from her mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
