We are a family-owned business located in the beautiful red rock country of Sedona, in northern Arizona. Our amazing collection
of authentic Southwestern and Native American art includes extraordinary handmade jewelry, hand-carved Hopi Kachina dolls, Navajo sandpaintings, Pueblo pottery, hand-woven baskets, and the finest Navajo rugs in the world.
Our History
For many years we have held the utmost respect, admiration, and appreciation for the beautiful indigenous art of the Southwest. With deep roots in Arizona, four generations of the Garland family have worked with American Indian art. In the 1920s, Charles Isham worked as a sales clerk at the historic Red Lake Trading Post. Charles raised a family in Flagstaff, Arizona, including his daughter, Georgiana Isham. Georgie married William (Bill) Garland and in 1976, they built Garland’s Navajo Rugs in Sedona, Arizona in traditional trading post style with native red rocks and thick wooden beams. Under Bill, his son Dan Garland, and wife Tricia, the business grew until it boasted the largest selection of Navajo Rugs in the world.
In 1985, Bill opened Garland’s Indian Jewelry on a historic piece of land called Indian Gardens north of Sedona. With an antique rock façade and vine covered walls, Garland’s Jewelry is a treasure nestled in Oak Creek Canyon. More than thirty years and two generations later, Garland’s Jewelry has become one of the premier destinations for fine Native American jewelry in the world.

How We Buy
In the 1970s, our first buying trips were made to the Navajo and Hopi reservations, but soon our reputation for fair and generous dealings brought the artists directly to our gallery in Sedona. This approach to supporting Native American art has fostered multi-generational relationships with many artists and their families. On a daily basis, our artists travel from all corners of the Southwest, bringing their latest creations to us.
We carry art by more than 500 artists from tribes that span across Arizona and New Mexico, and many of our artists will drive five to six hours to sell to us. Talented artists have many options when choosing a gallery to sell their work, and we are honored to represent many of the best Native American and Southwest artists. We take seriously our commitment to the advancement of Native American art by encouraging creativity and rewarding quality. Above all, we consider our artists as partners in this business, and we are committed to always working with them fairly and honestly. All of our artists are paid up front, and they set the retail price for their pieces. We have spent many years learning from these talented craftspeople and their rich cultures.
