“I was born on the Navajo Reservation at a small community called Dilcon and have an older brother, Al Joe, that has been a big influence to getting me started in making jewelry. I also have a nephew, Bryan Joe, that started making jewelry and I am always glad to visit them and work with them whenever time permits.”
“I started by watching Al and helping him when I was in High School and took some classes when I was in college at NAU, and kept doing it as a hobby. I have a regular 8 to 5 job and do this as a hobby. Maybe when I retire in a few years, I might do it full time.”
“My work is mostly traditional style and occasionally make a contemporary piece. I have won 1st Place award in the Santa Fe Indian Market and the Navajo Show held at the Museum of Northern Arizona. I only do two and sometimes three shows per year and enjoy making jewelry.”
