Candelaria

Candelaria Turquoise has become one of the most collectible Nevada Turquoise Mines. It has a long history dating to the mid-1800s, mostly for precious metal mining. Candelaria Turquoise is often used by many of the highest end Native American jewelers. The Candelaria Turquoise mine is a turquoise claim within the large Candelaria Open Pit Mine. The claim was historically leased out to miners, but presently the best quality turquoise is nearly inaccessible. Candelaria is known for beautiful dark blue tones, in some cases having reddish or black matrix. Candelaria is expensive because of its hardness and beautiful colors. The difficulty accessing the turquoise deposits makes it an increasingly rare and valuable stone.
